listening posts.

One morning Ane and I took a walk in New York City, whilst our compadré Abbas was getting some Mac time in. The Chelsea hotel only had internet in the foyer so most mornigs were spent hanging there. I found this on the listening post at the Virgin Megastore nearby. We also had to make sure it was the right album in there.

probably one of the toughest weeks i've had in a very long time.
this week i lost two family members in three days. it all happened so fast, i could not even make it home for the funerals, which were held friday and saturday. this is the very very worst thing with living so far from home.

i get so fucking isolated during times like these. thankfully i've spoken with everyone quite a lot. it helps but it's not like being there, in their presence. i miss them all so much.

oslo.

i'm sitting in oslo. in max and elizabeth's lovely apartment. norwegian radio on, so i not only learn the language but feel less "alone" on a friday night. max is at work, the restuarant and liz just left with a couple of friends for tappas.

ludo and i are hanging. i regret already not bringing my camera.

i arrived to oslo centrum at around 14:30 and i've been in meetings ever since then. espen is a complete legend. im looking forward to the norwegian grammys tomorrow, ane will be here for them and we shall hang out in her home country.

division are on tour in finland. giant boar are playing next week. per is mixing. streetwaves are recording. mai is working hard. soviac are also on their way, i think. 2009 looks to be another busy one.

sick day #9.

today is thursday. i've been in bed (80% of this sick time) since tuesday last week. i'm so over it.
this is what has saved me from going crazy whilst being stuck in my room.

head ache in the night.

i should write with a pen and paper more often. i have a head ache. it's late and i don't have a fever for what seems like the first night in a week. the chesty cough hurts like i'm being put on fire whilst strangled at the same time. it's like nothing i've ever had before, this virus is nasty.

pivot, the album keeps getting played. my favourite (almost most played) album of 2008.

i've just been going through a shit load of photo's from the division of laura lee usa tour. it's time to print some of them. maybe post a few more also.

today i slept until 13:35 and it felt early when i got up to make some green tea; the only thing that has helped my chest from cough attacks this week. i would like to sleep. but this 5 days of not leaving the apartment (i've barely left my bed) has left me climbing the walls now. restless. anxious. determined to be healthy. i've started to watch the australian series underbelly and without any social interaction at all just now it feels like i'm living in australia, with a little twist to the imaginary scenery out of my window.

i've never been in bed as many days as i've just had to endure. these four walls, my room, they look different now. even though nothing as changed in here. having to look at them from every angle i could find has allowed mind space to create something secret between them. an internal joke? between a tennant and his room. i have had fever three days straight. been in bed since tuesday. today is saturday. today im feeling a little more normal, but not myself.

friends are celebrating birthdays and enjoying weekend activities whilst i muster up energy to try and cook some food. now i have the after affects of a nasty winter virus to ride out and then concentrate on work again.

l.a. still sits warmly in my heart. the recent tour with division of laura lee was more than just a tour with a band. we created something all of us will remember. this photo is by fransson. it was taken at our hotel in los angeles, you could see the hollywood sign in the direction of sunset strip from our reception door steps.

days and weeks.

first week flew by. on monday i wasn't sure how i was going to get through the week as i was still completely exhausted from new york jet lag, violence is timeless release parties in gothenburg and stockholm. but, in the end it was nothing short of a fun week of settling in to the new office at fridhemsplan and the new environment. thinking back on it now it feels like i've been working there for a month already.

i saw a danish band called the river pheonix on tuesday night + one of my new bands called eva and the heartmaker's who are from norway. we all went to the bar i despise more than any in this city and drank a couple of night caps. it was a fun night with some lovely (talented) norwegians.

wednesday, we went to see another one of our bands called vikunja. they are a young "trevlig" bunch from halmstad. playing at kägelbanan's small bar, we also hung after the gig in their dressing rooms. top lads. will be fun to see them fly.

friday was the smff publisher's awards at berns. i had champagn in my hands at 12:15 that day. the dinner was lovely, the entertainment great. elin ruth played for us. people won awards. adam tensta took two of them. we took home "most played song of the year". and the party continued in the bar downstairs, surprisingly enough my first time down there.

after the awards, i took myself to see mercy arms + cut copy at debaser medis. the floor has never shaken so much in my medis visits ever. i bought a tee shirt, i like souvenirs. i got home late.

tony clifton had their release party for white elephant on saturday night. it was sold out, with 40 people in the que outside who could not fit in. a shame. the night was great, people seemed overly pepped. the way it should be.

tonight i went to see new moscow play at mosebacke. i slept all day to play catch up with my dreams. late, i ate my favourite hangover/brunch meal and took my day to do nothing. i got a heart mms, from a lovely girl. a tube ride, a walk, visit to cornelius and some nice company saw me through to a new week.

thank you all for being there with me. i need you.

a new era.

today i started a new job in stockholm. im sitting in fridemsplan, a place i haven't spent much in this part of town at all but it's refreshing with anonymity at the moment.

the position is with air chrysalis scandinavia and i am now a&r / creative manager for the world's 5th largest publishing company. it will be a very interesting and creative experience. and what do i know, first day of work we have a number 1 record in four scandinavian countries - and stoked as ever as it's one of my aussie faves ac/dc. new album black ice was released last week.

in a few hours i'll be flying back to the states. this time direct to new york. crashing at abbas' pad tonight and we're taking a taxi first thing. this weeks event: cmj music events. a whole week. we'll be hanging with ane and working shit loads no doubt.

i'm heading back to new york on sunday. this time abbas and i are doing the rounds. can't wait! we will play records at the bowery electric on tuesday and a whole lot more.

in the early morning, approximately 2.5 hours from now i will wake and board a tube to central station where i will then take a train to gothenburg. i hope it brings results we are looking for.

but i kind of miss america. it was warm. and sunny. and new. and even a little fun. touring will doll was an eye opener.

it's been some time.

mainly because i have felt, generally, like shit. i almost forgot i had this space to fill and let my family know i'm alive and well. that was the main purpose of this site in the beginning. now i want to restart it. and get on with my life as it was.

everything turned upside down, because of a girl. she was the "won". but it yet again, failed. i am me. not anyone else, who is perfect. or mr. right.

i am continuously on the run.

i'm still asking myself from what that is.

this weekend i had andy here from london on visit. it was also the weekend for divsion's new single LAX video shoot. more stories and pics to come. here is a taste of what's to come.

mai were back in sweden again recently for the lovely fritz's corner festival on the rooftop in stockholm.

whilst they were here they also performed the nyhetsmorgon (tv4). this recording had mai with special guest andreas söderström on guitar. you should check his project ASS out!

in the heat of the day, we're hiding out working in our hotel room here at the 2008, sold out emmaboda festival. still working our asses off on the violence is timeless launch. it's growing so fast, this monster we have been churning out for 6 months now.

mai finally made it to swedish shores. it was nothing short of amazing. the whole trip. they will be back on july 19th for a special show in stockholm. keep your eyes peeled.

new moscow.

i've been listening to new moscow since day one. my swedish brother henke was doing the promo for the debut album "verse, chorus, worse". for me it was irresistible - mellow pop tunes with hooks left right and center.

when we were in gothenburg for mai and their mini sweden tour - we had new moscow open up. here is a video i shot for "slow down". it's a beautiful song.



it was even featured on grey's anatomy last season.

it is one of stockholm's cosiest bars which often treats you to some the the best independent music. stop by one day to take a glass of red and hear music.
